about

Crochet met W was founded by Weera Koopman, an Amsterdam-based 27-year-old with a love for colours, sustainability and slow fashion. The name Crochet met W was chosen for its rhyme in Dutch ('met' translates to 'with').

Slow fashion

With four years of crochet experience under my belt, I've come to appreciate the art of crochet not just for its creative potential but as a powerful tool against the backdrop of climate change. Crochet, for me, is an escape from the toxic and fast-paced capitalist clothing industry. In the world of crochet, nothing is rushed. It's a deliberate act of slowing down, a rebellion against the idea that everything should be instantly available ('maakbaar' in Dutch). Slow fashion is not just a preference; it's a conscious choice for a sustainable future. I'm dedicated to promoting this through Crochet met W. I strive to source my materials locally or second-hand whenever possible.

Join the Slow Fashion Movement

My mission is to cultivate a community where everyone gets the chance to embrace and appreciate slow fashion. Through crochet workshops for beginners, I want to share the joy of crochet and inspire others to join the slow fashion movement.

Thank you for your support!

Love, Weera
